Chairman

Councillor Paul Harding

Paul has lived with his wife Jackie in Great Wymondley for the past 40 years where they brought up their three children all of whom have now left home.

He is actively involved in village affairs in Great Wymondley particularly focused at the moment on leading the work to restore St Mary’s church.

His wife Jackie was brought up in Grimstone Road little Wymondley. She attend the village school where her mother was cook and retained an interest throughout the time their three children attended the school to eventually be chair of governors for 10 years.

Paul is a Chartered Surveyor by profession, and worked as a Director of a global commercial real estate advisory company mainly dealing with commercial property in the UK and Europe Paul previously served on Wymondley Parish Council as Vice-Chair and planning lead for a considerable time in the 1990/2000.

Paul’s experience of the council and understanding of the villages as well as having general property and business knowledge will enable him to provide a positive contribution to our communities current challenges.

Councillor Barrie Gilbert

Cllr Barrie Gilbert

Born in the USA, Barrie came to the UK in 1983 through her profession. She moved to Little Wymondley at the end of 2013 with Steve Foster. She has three grown sons and two grandchildren. Having been a Strategy Consultant in the USA, UK and Switzerland, she is looking forward to utilising her experience, knowledge and positive approach in all situations to work on behalf of our parish. She is a member of the Council’s Staffing Committee and also the Environment Group.

Councillor Jane Boxall 

Jane was brought up in Stevenage Old Town and moved to Little Wymondley with her parents in 1972.  She helped her parents with their business and then ran

several businesses of her own including a pet crematorium.   Jane’s two boys attended Little Wymondley school where she was a member and then Chairman of the PTA.

More recently she  worked for a financial advisor and at Lister Hospital. Now retired, Jane volunteers for The Dogs Trust and National Trust.

Her life-long passion has been horses and the countryside and she still rides and walks regularly.

Jane has seen many changes in the village over the years including the bypass being built, lessening the through traffic.

Jane hopes through her work with the Parish Council she can help to revitalise the village and see the return of a village shop, and the introduction of a much needed

village hall / community centre.   Jane hopes to represent the villagers to make Little Wymondley a safe, clean, and pleasant place to live.

Councillor Steve Foster

Cllr Steve FosterSteve was born in Little Wymondley over 60 years ago and attended the village Primary School in the early 1960’s.  His interests include animals, sport (watching only these days!!), playing cards – and a good detective movie/tv series.

Councillor Gwen Flynn

Gwen moved to Stevenage with her parents in 1957, when her dad got a job with English Electric.  She worked in a Bank from 1969 in various roles,                                                the last of which was assisting a manager looking after a portfolio of business customers.  She moved to Hitchin in 1976 and Little Wymondley in 1987.                                          Upon retiring in 2021, she took an interest in local issues, due mainly to the erosion of green belt land.                                                                                                                      Owned by an African grey parrot and  a springer spaniel dog, she is also a member of Hitchin Bridge Club, Little and Great Wymondley table tennis clubs                                and has recently started to learn bell ringing at St Mary’s Church in Great Wymondley (and thoroughly recommends trying it if you’ve ever thought about it!).

Councillor Peter Eblett

Peter was born in Watford and then raised in Stevenage where he resided until February 2021.  He then moved to Little Wymondley where he lives with my wife, Jan.  They are parents to four grown-up children and very proud grandparents to five grandchildren. Peter has held an healthy interest in politics for most of his adult life and cares deeply for the community and the environment.  It is with this in mind that he would like to contribute to how and where we live. He works currently as a Project Consultant and since the pandemic, from home for the majority of time. Peter has held committee positions on various sporting bodies over the years and is a former Parent Governor of Knebworth School. He has a keen interest in a wide variety of sports including golf, cricket, rugby and motorcycle racing but his real passion is for football and he is a long suffering supporter of Southampton FC, regularly attending their games.  Peter also like gardening and riding his motorcycle.

Councillor Dominic Griffiths

Dominic was born in Harpenden and grew up there before moving to Little Wymondley in 2012. He is a teacher in Hertfordshire, a keen supporter of Liverpool and plays tennis  in the Little Wymondley Tennis club. He is currently leading on the Council’s plans for events to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.

 

Councillor Caroline McDonnell

Born in South Africa, Caroline moved to the United Kingdom in 1999 where she lived in South West London before moving to Great Wymondley in 2005, with her husband.                                    She is actively involved in village life having helped in establishing the Wymondley Community Garden and is Church Warden at St Mary’s church.                                                                                When Caroline isn’t busy at her job as a finance analyst she enjoys gardening, and growing vegetables on their garden plot.                                                                                                                                She is interested in local politics and believes we are custodians of our communities. She is also a District Councillor for Graveley, St Ippolys and Wymondley ward.
