The Great Wymondley Community Orchard is being created on part of the Great Wymondley Recreation Ground, which is owned by Wymondley Parish Council.
The proposal for a community orchard was put forward by Cherry and Derek Carter, long-term residents of Great Wymondley who have also represented the Great Wymondley Garden Plot holders for many years.
The Parish Council approved the orchard proposal at its meeting on 22 July 2019; and bare-rooted trees, (many of which were sponsored by Parish residents), were planted during the weekend of 1st/2nd February 2020. Regular updates on progress are provided to the Parish Council by Mr and Mrs Carter at the monthly Parish Council meetings and are recorded in the minutes.
