WYI PLANNING APPLICATION FOR 300 HOMES

The WY1 outline planning application for 300 houses came to the North Herts District Council Planning Committee last Thursday evening, 13 August.

It was regrettably approved.

I would just like to thank Hayley Ward, Dominic Griffiths and Ralph Muncer who, together with myself, spoke against the proposal given the severe impact that doubling the size of Little Wymondley will have on residents.

I would also thank the 16 residents who turned up to support us.
We put a range of important aspects of the application to the committee, including challenges on traffic, flooding, community integration and the lack of local services.

The general sentiment from all those who attended was a planning committee out of touch with its residents, a poor standard of debate and a lack of grasp of the application.  All exacerbated by misleading and at times incorrect statements from the Planning Officers.

This application was only in outline, with all matters other than access reserved. We will therefore now do all we can to work with the developer, Welbeck Land, the District and County Council to mould aspects of the proposals impacting the community.

Buckingham Palace Garden Party

It was an honour for Jackie and I to represent Wymondley Parish last week at a Buckingham Palace garden party in my role as Chair of the Parish Council.

It was a very special experience with the King  and Queen on very good form
We were wonderfully looked after and felt very privileged to be amongst so many people invited for the  voluntary work they do for their communities and charities across the country and the commonwealth.

We were proud to represent and be able to talk about the many positive aspects of our village communities

Traffic Calming and Speed Reduction Proposals

The Parish Council have been advised that the formal notice relating to the speed reduction and traffic calming proposals for Little and Great Wymondley will be in the Comet on Friday 26 March

The Parish Council has had a view of the draft.

We are delighted that after a long campaign the proposals are progressing with work intended to be undertaken, we understand this year.

The HCC have been able to incorporate at least some of the points we raised including the extension of the 20mph zone to cover the Arch Road bridge.

Your Councillors fully support the proposals which we believe will be a big step forward in improving safety and living conditions in our villages.

We also thank our County and District Councillors for supporting this campaign.

If you do wish to discuss any aspect do contact your Parish  Councillor or our Clerk at clerk@wymondley-pc.gov.uk
