Buckingham Palace Garden Party

It was an honour for Jackie and I to represent Wymondley Parish last week at a Buckingham Palace garden party in my role as Chair of the Parish Council.

It was a very special experience with the King  and Queen on very good form
We were wonderfully looked after and felt very privileged to be amongst so many people invited for the  voluntary work they do for their communities and charities across the country and the commonwealth.

We were proud to represent and be able to talk about the many positive aspects of our village communities

Traffic Calming and Speed Reduction Proposals

The Parish Council have been advised that the formal notice relating to the speed reduction and traffic calming proposals for Little and Great Wymondley will be in the Comet on Friday 26 March

The Parish Council has had a view of the draft.

We are delighted that after a long campaign the proposals are progressing with work intended to be undertaken, we understand this year.

The HCC have been able to incorporate at least some of the points we raised including the extension of the 20mph zone to cover the Arch Road bridge.

Your Councillors fully support the proposals which we believe will be a big step forward in improving safety and living conditions in our villages.

We also thank our County and District Councillors for supporting this campaign.

If you do wish to discuss any aspect do contact your Parish  Councillor or our Clerk at clerk@wymondley-pc.gov.uk

Development of 300 Houses in Little Wymondley

The Parish Council want to bring to your attention that a new 30-day consultation period has started in relation to the outline planning permission for the development of 300 houses in Little Wymondley in the area between the High Street and A602 Bypass as on the plan below

The application is No 22/000956/OP on the North Herts Planning portal. The most relevant documents are on the most recent three pages of the application. We would encourage everyone in the village and wider Parish to make their views known whether in favour or against

The new proposals do not change any of the fundamentals from the proposals that we have seen before

The Parish Council are reviewing the latest documents but in principle we believe the key issues include

o   Scale in relation to the village as it stands which impacts the whole character of the community

o   Road traffic congestion directly in The High Street but also the wider area

o   Lack of public transport infrastructure

o   No attempt to link Little Wymondley to Hitchin

o   Flood and drainage issues which make the site very unsuitable for housing

o   Lack of community infrastructure in the village including community hall, size of the school, lack of shop

Do attend the next Parish Council meeting on the 24th November and most importantly make your views known to North Herts Council
